Theiss is the Executive Director and founder of Human Trafficking Awareness Partnerships, Inc. (HTAP). Its mission is to bring human trafficking to the forefront of public consciousness by helping communities form task forces and action projects and programs to prevent trafficking by educating targeted groups.
Theiss served as the founding Chair of the Lee County Human Trafficking Task Force in 2005 and helped organize numerous task forces in the country. She is a trainer for the "Many Faces of Human Trafficking" program for the Florida Regional Community Policing Institute and has been a speaker at numerous professional conferences and distinguished speaker series. She has developed ARTREACH, a prevention program for teenage girls using art to increase awareness and to encourage them to become spokespersons to their peer groups.
